Russian Language Courses
2006 - 2007
Beginners - This course will teach you the basics of the Russian Language. In 33 lessons, you will be given the knowledge of the Russian alphabet, pronunciation, some essential vocabulary, as well as VERY challenging Russian grammar! At the end of the course the most diligent students will be able to read and write in Russian, to hold some basic conversation on various subjects, and even the laziest student will know how to spell their name in Russian!

2nd Year and 3rd Year Levels - These courses welcome the students who have taken the Beginners' Course in our Centre as well as those who have learned the basics elsewhere (the applicants' linguistic capability will be assessed by our teachers). Each course will consists of 33 lessons and is meant to develop and deepen your mastery of the Russian Language and introduce you to the Russian culture and traditions.

'A' Level (MATSEC) courses will be organised if we have the minimum number required.

Conversation - This course will help those who already know Russian quite well and are eager to practise their skills and have full command of both spoken and written language. We will be taking a close look at the Russian lifestyle by reading extracts from Russian classical and modern literature, watching direct TV programmes and videos, discussing any issues that might be of interest. The course will consist of 33 lessons.

Individual Tailor-Made Courses - Any student who:

• is not able to take regular classes due to his/her schedule
• has private language needs
• prefers individual attention
• will be offered individual instruction.

All students will have every opportunity to
take an active part in all activities organised by the Centre.

A meeting for prospective students will be held at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture
on Wednesday, 27^th September at 7:00pm.

The Russian Language School starts in October 2006

Regulations

	Kindly note that the fee payable for the Russian Language Course is not refundable and must be paid in full on application.
	Students who cancel or absent themselves from any lessons during the course will have no right for a refund or for other extra lessons. However, any lessons that are cancelled by the teacher will be given at a later date.
	At the end of the scholastic year, all students will be expected to sit for an examination. Those students who do not wish to do so will be presented with a Certificate of Attendance. Those who attend classes regularly, carry out assignments and pass their examinations will be presented with a Certificate of Merit.
	There will be a break of 2 weeks during the Christmas period and 1 week during the Easter period.

Registration for the course is now open at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture 36, Merchants Street, Valletta Opening times are from Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 12:30pm and from 4:00pm until 7:00pm Applications should be submitted by 1st October 2006 Group placement and the timetable will be finalised as soon as all applications are received.
